Why We Work with Concrete
Concrete is probably not the first material that comes to mind when thinking of finely crafted automotive sculptures.
That is precisely why we chose it.
From the very beginning, our goal was never to find the easiest material to work with. Instead, we were looking for one that could reinterpret automotive design in a completely new way. One that would become an essential part of every sculpture rather than simply a manufacturing medium.
Our choice was concrete.
Not as a technical experiment, but as a deliberate design decision.
A Material with Its Own Character
Concrete possesses qualities unlike almost any other material.
Its surface is calm, honest and naturally expressive. Tiny pores, subtle textures and slight variations are inherent to the material, making every sculpture truly unique.
For us, these natural characteristics are not imperfections. They are an integral part of the design, giving each piece its own identity while reinforcing its sculptural presence.
Developing Our Own Process
Concrete is not a material traditionally associated with highly detailed automotive sculptures.
To achieve the level of precision we envisioned, we spent years developing manufacturing processes specifically tailored to our work. Through countless prototypes, continuous refinement and extensive material testing, we established techniques capable of producing a level of detail and surface quality rarely associated with concrete.
Rather than relying on conventional industrial casting methods, every sculpture is created using a carefully controlled process that combines proprietary techniques with a high level of manual craftsmanship.
Every Sculpture Defines Its Own Process
There is no universal manufacturing process at Advanced Canvas.
Every sculpture presents its own challenges and is developed accordingly. Some models are created as a single concrete body before being hand-finished and refined. Others (particularly vehicles with open interiors or exceptionally intricate details) consist of numerous individual components that are produced separately and assembled with precision by hand.
Our manufacturing process never follows a fixed formula. Instead, it is defined by the design of the vehicle and the unique requirements of each project.
It is not our production process that defines the sculpture.
It is the sculpture that defines its production process.
Engineered to Last
For us, longevity is just as important as aesthetics.
To enhance structural stability, carbon fiber reinforcement is integrated directly into the concrete structure. This approach provides additional strength while preserving the clean appearance and long-term durability of each sculpture.
Why Concrete?
Concrete changes the way a vehicle is perceived.
Familiar shapes become calmer, more architectural and more timeless. The character of the original design remains, yet it is experienced from an entirely different perspective.
That is what fascinates us about this material.
For us, concrete is more than a material. It is an essential part of our design philosophy.
